Next Level
This section is all about taking your manuscript to – yep, you guessed it – the next level. Whether you’ve finished your first draft or your sixth, this is the place to boost your writing and your confidence. Completed drafts only please.
Manuscript Assessment – A full assessment with accompanying report of a completed manuscript of up to 70,000 words.
Cost:£750/ $1500 + £70/$140 for every extra 10,000 words.
Midnight Mentoring
Okay, so we might not actually chat at midnight, but this flexible mentoring service is for anyone who struggles to find time for their writing but still wants some guidance.
Midnight Mentoring Session – A one-hour one-to-one online mentoring session tailored to you and your project. Can’t manage an hour in one go? These sessions can be broken up into half-hour slots. There are some limited weekend slots that are available on agreement and considered on individual circumstance.
Cost: from £100/ $200 per hour (or get in touch for a personalised quote that includes editorial notes)
Organise Me! Mentoring Session – A one-hour one-to-one online mentoring session with a focus on creating a usable plan for your writing or current project. Includes the Pantser to Planner Guide. Can’t manage an hour in one go? These sessions can be broken up into half-hour slots. There are some limited weekend slots that are available on agreement and considered on individual circumstance. Submission: Accomplished
You’ve got your manuscript ready, thought about literary stardom and you’re ready to take the next step. But do you know what you need for an eye-catching submission? Now you do.
Submission: Accomplished Documents Report – A full assessment of your submission documents provided as a written report. Includes a copyedit of the final cover letter and synopsis.
Cost: from £200/ $400 (+ £100/$200 for a copyedit of the writing sample)
Publishing Perfection
This one is for students looking for a thesis edit, writers looking to self-publish or for those looking to polish their manuscript ready for submission. Writing in dialect? You’re in luck. That’s my specialty. Note that these prices are guideline rates and are dependent on the full length and complexity of your project – contact me for a full quote. For thesis edits I’ll also endeavour to work within the constraints of your budget allocation from your university.

Structural (Developmental) Edit – This edit will focus on ‘big picture’ components such as plot, characterisation, themes, etc. and will be delivered in the form of a written report plus a one-hour online debrief where we can talk things through and answer any questions you might have. This is very different to a manuscript assessment and much more intensive. If you think you’re not quite ready to go this in-depth then check out the services in Next Level.
Copyedit – Spelling, grammar, punctuation and fact-checking across the whole document. This can be as heavy or as light as you like – you set the parameters. Includes a one-hour online meeting to discuss any questions.
Proofread – Spelling, grammar, punctuation, design aspects and fact-checking across a whole document. This is for a final document that has already been put into the format it will take when published. Whether that’s a Word doc, a PDF or a typeset book, this should be ready for final checks. If the document isn’t yet designed/formatted for publication, please book a Copyedit.
Dialect Copyedit/Proofread – The usual spelling, grammar, punctuation and fact-checking across the whole document. But because dialect editing is a little more labour intensive, it deserves its own category. Includes a one-hour online meeting to discuss any questions.
