Welcome to my website! I’m a writer, editor, journalist and event moderator with a wealth of experience in the publishing and media industries. I offer services in copywriting, editing, publishing, mentoring and manuscript assessments for both writers and publishers.

I’m also a PhD candidate in creative writing at Curtin University in Western Australia. My research explores whether there is a bias in the UK books industry against Northern writers and writing.

CW: Domestic/emotional abuse In Episode 27 of Northern Voices I am joined by journalist and historian Brian Groom as he discusses his books, Northerners: A History and Made in Manchester. Our discussion goes all the way back to Roman times, through some of the region's most powerful women and cultural figures, and into recent history with the miners' strike. Onward with the festival reading and this one took a bit of getting through. Not because it’s a difficult read - it isn’t - but because once you start it’s hard not to get captivated by every sordid detail that it unveils. The festival reading has begun and what a novel to start on.
